Act-cell evacuation

Act cells escaping a chamber through a narrow exit. A chemokine gradient (blue) draws cells towards the exit; note the "jamming arches" that can block the exit for some time. To pause, click "start/stop". To start over, refresh the page. The page may take some time to load when first opened.

Try adjusting the "competitiveness" of motion by adjusting λ_ch. If λ_ch=0, you should see that cells do not sense the exit. Suggestions:

• Set λ_ch=0; you should see that cells no longer sense the exit.
• Set λ_ch back to 15 and wait until a jamming arch forms. Now increase λ_ch to "pull" the cells through. If you set λ_ch to very high values, cells may start breaking.
• Refresh the page to reset. Wait until a jamming arch forms; now try increasing λ_act. The greater ability to move independently of the gradient should destabilize the jamming arch.
